Bishop's Bridge

In a recent post about Norwich I mentioned Bishop Bridge and then realised I hadn't shown you a photo of it. It's a wonderful medieval packhorse bridge over the Wensum and is worth a detour to see.  A plaque on the side says it was built in 1340 and that the Earl of Warwick's troops fought a battle nearby in 1549.
Grade II* listed.

    This is a beautiful bridge. Are we talking Warwick the Kingmaker here?

      Warwick the Kingmaker was Richard Neville (1428-1471)
      This one was John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland (1504-1553) made Earl of Warwick in 1547. He was the 'king behind the throne' to Edward VI, and also involved in the plan to make Lady Jane Grey queen. Hence he was beheaded after Mary gained the throne.
